Heavy Rotation in May 2018

Hey guys,
Today I wanna tell you a little bit about my top songs of May 2018 AKA the songs that I’ve listened repeatedly over the last 4 weeks AKA the 6 YouTube tabs I keep open at all times on my work desktop.
In no particular order:
1. Christina Aguilera – Accelerate (link)
2.  SBTRKT feat. Sampha- Hold On  (link)
3.  LSD – Genius ft. Sia, Diplo, Labrinth  (link)
4.  Kygo ft Miguel- Remember to forget  (link)
5.  Backstreet Boys – Don’t go breaking my heart  (link)
6.  Metronomy- The look  (link)
As you can see, this month’s playlist is….diverse. Actually, pretty commercial, considering you have Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys and Sia on it. But….to be honest, they’re not your typical pop song (except BSB, that’s straight up pop).
Christina Aguilera is back in business and rocking a new fresh, simple look, but with an edgy, hip hop sound. An interesting contrast, and for this song, at least, it works very well. I like it.
The SBTRKT song is old, but I found it in a forgotten playlist of a co-worker. I love it, although I’m not usually a dance – EDM type of girl. I think it’s Sampha voice on it, the smoothness of it, that makes me listen to it over and over again.
The Sia, Diplo and Labrinth collaboration made me recommend it to all my friends after the first listen. It’s commercial, but I love the hip-hop, R&B mood of it. To be expected for a Diplo-Sia get together, I still remember and love “Elastic Heart”.
“Remember to forget” is a song I found through Shazam, after I heard on the radio. Again, a bit of EDM, or whatever genre of music it is, I’m not sure, but you know what I mean, it’s the dancing, Avicii-Maxwell & Ingrosso-Jonas Blue type of music. Again, I think it’s Miguel’s voice that sold it to me. Can you tell I like R&B? 🙂
The Metronomy one creeped up on me during the last few days of May. I knew it beforehand, found it randomly on YouTube and decided to play it….again and again. It’s very catchy and summer-y, I really like it and I will probably listen to it for the rest of the summer.
Last, but not least, Backstreet Boys. Let me give you the backstory: when I was growing up, I discovered BSB and fell in love immediately and for a long period of time. Mostly, I fell for Nick Carter, but I really loved their songs, too. I would get their CDs at every birthday and Christmas (easy buy for my family). Time passed, they grew old, irrelevant for the market and stopped making music. I grew out of love (obsession) for them, too and moved on. Insert 2018: new song drops! Of course I clicked on the news the moment I saw it and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Cool song, simple, but catchy. I would have been fine without the synchronized dancing (news flash guys, boyband synchronized dancing sucks nowadays), but overall it’s great.
These were my most listened songs of May 2018. What were yours?
